What The Dog First Offers

The Dog First provides dog training and dog behaviour consultancy services for dog owners or other interested parties. Sessions may take place online or in person (when available). Educational content may also be offered occasionally.

Booking and Communication

Sessions are arranged individually. Clients may contact The Dog First online or via phone. Once a session is confirmed, the preferred way of communication will be agreed upon between The Dog First and the client.

Payments

Single sessions must be paid in full within 7 days after the session. Multi-session packages (bundles) must be paid in full within 48 hours after the first session of the bundle. Payment is made by bank transfer or payment request. If payment is not received within the specified timeframe, The Dog First reserves the right to decline future bookings until the outstanding amount is settled.

Responsibility & Liability

The Dog First provides training and behaviour consultancy services based on current knowledge and professional experience. While all services are delivered to the best of our ability, progress depends on various factors, including consistency, the learning pace of the dog, the dog's environment, and the owner's engagement. For this reason, specific results cannot be guaranteed.

Clients are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information about their dog’s health, history, and behaviour both before training begins and throughout the duration of the collaboration.

The Dog First is not liable for any damage, injury, or loss resulting from the dog’s behaviour, whether during or outside of training sessions, and whether or not the trainer is present. This includes, but is not limited to, direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. The client remains fully responsible for their dog at all times, including ensuring that their dog does not pose a risk to themselves, other people, animals, property, or the environment.

The Dog First will make every reasonable effort to explain training techniques and recommendations clearly. However, responsibility for how this information is applied rests with the client.

Educational Content Disclaimer

The information provided in blog posts, social media posts, and other educational materials by The Dog First — including those published on this website — is for general informational purposes only. It does not replace personalised advice or consultation. The Dog First is not responsible for how readers interpret or apply this content. Use of this information is at the reader’s own risk.

Right to Refuse Service

The Dog First reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services if a situation arises that presents a safety risk, involves inappropriate behaviour, falls outside the scope of the services offered, or otherwise prevents a professional and respectful working relationship. This includes, but is not limited to, abusive communication, unsafe environments, or the use of training methods that conflict with The Dog First’s values and approach.

Use of Materials

Any training plans, exercises, videos, or handouts shared by The Dog First are intended for personal use only. These materials are the intellectual property of The Dog First and may not be copied, published, or shared with others without written permission.

Photos and Videos

Photos and videos may occasionally be taken during sessions or shared by the client with The Dog First. These may be used for educational or promotional purposes (e.g. social media, webinars, or presentations). The Dog First will always ask for the client’s consent before publishing any such material. Consent may be given verbally or in writing, and if the client prefers not to have photos or videos of themselves or their dog used, this will always be respected.

Cancellations and Missed Sessions

At this time, there is no formal cancellation or rescheduling fee. However, clients are expected to provide reasonable notice if they are unable to attend a scheduled session. Frequent cancellations or missed sessions without notice may result in future bookings being declined.

Sessions that have already taken place are non-refundable. The multi-session package (bundle) is intended to be used over four consecutive weeks. If this is not possible, the remaining sessions may be used within a maximum of eight weeks from the originally agreed start date, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Unused sessions cannot be refunded, transferred to another person, or exchanged for other services.

Right of Withdrawal

If a service is booked online, the client has the legal right to withdraw within 14 days of confirming the booking. However, by scheduling a session to take place within that 14-day period, the client agrees to waive this right and acknowledges that the service will begin before the withdrawal period ends.
