About me
My name is Vassianna. I hold a degree in Animal Science from the Agricultural University of Athens and an MSc in Animal Sciences from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, where I specialised in dog behaviour.
Alongside my studies, I became actively involved in dog training in 2016, and shortly after also in dog sports. Over the years, I have attended a wide range of courses and seminars, gaining both practical experience and a deeper theoretical understanding of dog training and behaviour.
Finally, I am a graduate of the Master Trainer Course at the Scandinavian Working Dog Institute (SWDI), where I developed my expertise in working dog training, scent detection, and functional obedience.
About The Dog First
The more I worked with dogs, the more it became clear that training makes much more sense when theory and practice come together. This idea shaped my approach and ultimately led me to start The Dog First.
In the world of dog sports, there is a phrase you hear often: “Love the dog first, the sport second”. This phrase became the inspiration behind the name The Dog First.
Training is not only about changing behaviour. A big part of it is giving people the tools to work with their dogs with clarity and purpose. When the dog comes first, progress in training follows naturally.
